Why We Stopped to Smell the Vita Bone Artisan Inspired Treats

This post all started when I forced a friend to go smell dog treats when we were attending the BlogPaws conference in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. So, now that you have that mental picture, I’ll give you a bit more of an explanation.

Imagine, a cavernous convention center brimming with enthusiastic pet owners as they excitedly navigate through the aisles that have been filled with companies who have awesome products that they hope will grab the attention of pet bloggers. As a person who has a day job in a different field, I’ve been to many trade events where brands hope to draw the attention of folks streaming up and down the corridors. Usually, conversations only happen between a brand and an industry representative when there’s something free involved. Why are stress balls still a viable giveaway? I don’t know, but I’ve gotten my fair share waved at me in a desperate attempt to grab my attention. Also, no, I will never take your free candy from your table. Ever. I’m pretty sure those Jolly Ranchers ran out of their shelf life over a decade ago.

This is a sponsored post. We received product and compensation in exchange for an honest assessment of our views and opinions. We only share information about products we have tried and love and our opinions are our own.

This handsome pup is Spencer from Spencer the Goldendoodle. He helped show his love for Vita Bone® Artisan Inspired® dog treats and got some free treats while I took some photos.

Okay, on to the point. When I went to BlogPaws this year, I was armed with a list of brands that I had researched in advance and wanted to connect with. I didn’t plan on swerving away from that list as I kept chanting to myself “quality over quantity.” It’s not about speaking to everyone, it’s about speaking to the right ones.

I had spoken with brand reps from Vita Bone® Artisan Inspired® dog treats last year and the year prior at BlogPaws (insert embarrassing photo of a Bryn posing with a person wearing the Vita Bone costume). Embarrassing because I look stupid, nothing against the bone. If you have a dirty mind, I just set you up. You’re welcome.

This is me and my dad posing with the Vita Bone mascot when we were at BlogPaws in Nashville, TN. The family that poses together, stays together, or so I'm told.

I thought I knew all there was to know about Vita Bone and then, BAM, I saw their display! Holy cow, it was stunning! It had a foam floor that looked like hardwood flooring, beautiful wood tables, and large glass containers that resembled the “make your own candy bag as a favor” containers you find at swanky weddings. I was drawn in, I couldn’t resist.

They were featuring brand new treats and flavor combinations and were inviting folks to smell them. I first forced my friend Alison from Sarcastic Dog to smell the Maple Bacon & Blueberry Artisan Treats. I most certainly snuck in a photo while she was doing the sniff test, but let me tell you, they looked good enough for us humans to nomnomnomnom on should we feel peckish. I put my sniffer up against the Turkey Stuffing & Cranberry flavor treats, and immediately got brought to memories of Thanksgiving Dinner!

My friend, Alison from Sarcastic Dog, smelling treats, because I told her to and she's a good friend. They smelled delicious!

When I arrived home from the conference, I gave Bean and Yoda some of the Vita Bone samples we had received and they went bonkers! They could smell the treats way before they got close to their mouths, and they were salivating like crazy. Yoda had a drool bubble, ‘cause he’s generally disgusting.

I’m going to be honest with you. At any given moment, there are at least 10 different brands of dog treats on the top of our fridge. We like to spice things up in our home, I guess. The dogs recognize the Vita Bone bag, and will scuttle with more excitement once they see my hand making its way to their bag compared with the other treats on the fridge. I break up the treats (we’ve been giving them the Turkey Pot Roast & Red Potato Flavor soft treats and the Maple Bacon and Blueberry Flavor) and they literally scan my hand to see which part of the treat is bigger to try and get the larger morsel in their mouths. It’s hysterical but hard to take a video of, since I only have two hands and have two dogs.

The treats are, hands down, some of their favorites. I’m happy about feeding them because their ingredients are simple, with no added chemicals. We can pick the treats up at Walmart, which is nice and convenient. We can also find them at a lot of stores using their handy dandy store locator. The treats are made in small batches and are made in America.

I am just so excited I got lured into smelling treats at their display in Myrtle Beach because Bean and Yoda now have a new favorite that I’m excited about feeding them!

Wouldn’t you LOVE a chance to win some of these treats of your very own to try?! I thought you’d say yes. I kind of set you guys up, if I’m being honest. Well, GOOD because there’s a giveaway you can enter for the prize shown in the rafflecopter widget! Enter below and tell your friends!
